Russian pork and poultry producers are seeing a shortage of feed additives for farm animals, which could lead to a reduction in the supply of MEAT.

In particular, there is a lack of the basis of compound feeds - amino acids: choline chloride, gluten, threonine, lysine, etc., Prodo and Cherkizovo noted.

Producers attribute the shortage of feed additives to delays in deliveries from CHINA (the largest producer) by rail throughout October. Another reason is the rolling shutdown of Chinese factories in order to improve the environmental situation in the country on the eve of the Olympic Games.

Also in China, the number of animals is increasing, therefore, the consumption of additives for their own needs is also growing, Damate explained.

The National Meat Association warned that in the current situation, the fattening of animals will be longer, and this, in a certain period, may result in a reduction in the supply of meat on the Russian market. The consumption of mixed feed will also increase (by about 10%), and this, in turn, will lead to an increase in costs for producers.

Cherkizovo called the situation critical: the purchase of feed additives on the domestic market costs twice as much as direct imports, while the volumes are not enough. The problem with choline chloride is also exacerbated by the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR 's ban on supplies from most manufacturers.

The Rosselkhoznadzor is aware of the problem - interruptions in the supply of some types of feed additives from China, in particular amino acids, "are of global importance," the agency said. The Rosselkhoznadzor is “working to expand the possibilities of importing feed additives into RUSSIA.”
