The government approved the Concept for the development of production and use of electric vehicles, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reports. By 2030, at least 10% of all cars produced in the country must be electric.

The concept is designed in two stages. The first will last until 2024, when Russia plans to prepare a base for the mass production of electric vehicles. By this time, at least 25 thousand of them should be produced throughout the country. Another task is the development of infrastructure. At the same time, at least 9 thousand charging stations should appear in Russia.

The press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade told RBC that the purpose of the program is "to identify key areas of state policy in the development of production and use of electric and hydrogen vehicles in the Russian Federation." it sets targets for the transition to green transport, including:

launch of production of cells for traction batteries; launch of production of cathode and anode materials; commissioning of at least 72,000 charging stations, including at least 28,000 fast ones; commissioning of at least 1,000 hydrogen filling stations; creation of at least 39 thousand highly productive jobs in the entire technological chain of production.
