A veterinarian from Kabardino-Balkaria turned lamb into beef

Acting as a trustee of a local manufacturer, Kertov B.T. issued veterinary accompanying documents (eVSD) for chilled beef, in fact replacing one type of MEAT with another.

The total weight of sold batches of beef carcasses, the raw material for which, according to the Mercury component of the FSIS VetIS, was small cattle (sheep), exceeded 801 kilograms.

The substitution was established by the monitoring group of the interregional department of the federal service, which qualified the actions of the veterinarian as a violation of the principle of traceability of the supply chain and the requirements of TR TS 021/2011 (on food safety). Data on the results of the verification of transactions were transferred to the republican veterinary department.
