Representatives of Tambovsky Bacon LLC called the results of the Roskachestvo study , which found undeclared carrageenan in the company's MEAT products, questionable. This is stated in the company's information letter (RBC has a copy).
According to the company’s press service, carrageenan is not used in production, and the identified amount does not have a technological effect and does not affect HEALTH .
“The mass fraction of carrageenan detected cannot perform the technological function of a stabilizer in the finished product and cannot lead to negative consequences in the human body,” the company emphasized.
Tambovsky Bacon also noted that carrageenan was found in only one of 12 samples, and the method used in the analysis was not intended for meat products and was not reflected in the relevant guidelines.
On this basis, the company called the results of the Roskachestvo study questionable.
Roskachestvo checked 19 commercial semi-finished meat products produced in RUSSIA the day before. The study covered 162 indicators of quality, safety, labeling and organoleptics. As a result, violations were found in the products of several brands.
According to the results of Roskachestvo research, listeria was found in the kupaty of the Myasnitsky Ryad brand.bacteria that cause dangerous infections. The Ostankino samples were found to contain sulfanilamide, an antimicrobial substance, whose content exceeded permissible levels. Experts noted that such drugs are unacceptable in food products.
Six samples showed an excess of fat peroxide value, which may indicate the beginning of spoilage, probably due to violation of storage conditions. Pieces of cartilage and dense inclusions were also found in a number of samples.
In addition, undeclared carrageenan, a food thickener based on red seaweed used as a texture stabilizer, was found in products of six brands, including Tambovsky Bacon.
Rospotrebnadzor sent warnings to manufacturers about the inadmissibility of violations.
