MINSK . The total number of crimes registered in the Grodno region decreased by 8.8%. A BELTA correspondent was informed about this by the information service of the regional prosecutor's office.
Today the department held a meeting of the board of the regional prosecutor’s office on the results of work for 2023. Deputy Prosecutor General Maxim Voronin took part in the meeting.
The board discussed the dynamics of crime, problems in the implementation of supervisory activities and ways to solve them. In 2023, the total number of reported crimes decreased by 8.8%. Growth was observed only in Voronovo and Volkovysk districts.
The number of crimes registered in the areas of criminal investigation has decreased. A decrease is observed in the number of crimes committed by minors and with their complicity, as well as by persons with a criminal record, a group of persons. The number of cases of domestic violence and crimes in
ALCOHOL intoxication and committed in public places.
However, there were also negative factors for the crime situation that required a response from the law enforcement unit, the supervisory agency noted. Over the year, the number of people who committed crimes repeatedly increased by 3.6%, as well as the number of serious and especially serious such acts committed by those with a criminal record. Moreover, more than 80% of repeat crimes were committed by persons in respect of whom the internal affairs bodies exercised control within the framework of preventive accounting, monitoring and preventive supervision.
The Deputy Prosecutor General drew attention to the work of government agencies regarding the resocialization of people who lead an asocial lifestyle, as part of the implementation of the Presidential Decree “On Promoting Employment of the Population.” He also demanded that the tasks set by the
HEAD of state and the prosecutor general be fulfilled. Among them are strengthening supervision over the work of internal affairs bodies, ensuring an integrated approach to preventive surveillance and preventive supervision of those with previous convictions. In addition, the Deputy Prosecutor General noted the importance of proper consideration of citizens' appeals. People who were unable to resolve issues with the help of other bodies and organizations come to personal appointments, which requires prosecutors to take a high-quality and attentive approach when organizing the consideration of appeals.
