Investigative Committee photo, September 30, MINSK . The Investigative Committee's Investigative Department for the Gomel Region has established the circumstances of the injury of a 64-year-old Gomel resident on the premises of a garage and construction consumer cooperative. This was reported to BelTA by the Investigative Committee.
According to the investigation, in July, the man contacted a home-based auto mechanic to repair his personal Renault Logan. The car had engine and parking brake problems. The illegal auto repair shop was located in one of the garages of the garage and construction consumer cooperative. The mechanic repaired the engine and invited the client to accept the job. The car was parked in the roadway opposite the garage doors. The men inspected the hood. The mechanic then decided to start the engine to demonstrate the repair. He failed to properly ensure the gearshift lever was not in neutral and turned the key in the ignition. The Renault began to move forward and struck the man standing in front of him. The car owner was taken to the hospital with a broken leg.
it was established that the mechanic was repairing cars without officially registering his business. The relevant information has been forwarded to the tax department by the investigator. Furthermore, at the time of the incident, the mechanic was in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication . In 2016, he was held administratively liable for driving a motorcycle while intoxicated. He failed to renew his driver's license after the due date.
Based on the evidence collected in the case, the 45-year-old Gomel resident was charged under Part 4 of Article 317 (violation of traffic regulations and operation of vehicles by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in negligently causing grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code. With the prosecutor's approval , he was remanded in custody.
