After the media reported that about 100,000 cards of Russian banks were leaked to the darknet, the scammers began to offer users to “check” whether their cards were in the specified database. As a result, funds can be debited from the account

Fraudsters have begun to create special sites where users are allegedly offered to check if their bank card details are included in the database “merged” into the darknet. it is reported by Roskachestvo.

Attackers place ads on social networks and instant messengers, where they offer to go to a fraudulent site. On the page, the user is prompted to enter the details of his card, then the system supposedly checks if it got into the database sold on the darknet.

If the user really enters the data, he can transfer his data to intruders, writes Sergey Kuzmenko, senior specialist in testing digital products of Roskachestvo. In the worst case scenario, money will be debited from the victim's account.

"Kommersant" learned about the data drain of 100 thousand cards of Russian banks

The fact that databases with data from about 100 thousand Russian cards were put up for sale on the darknet was reported by Kommersant on March 14, citing specialists in the IT industry. The founder of DLBI, Ashot Hovhannisyan, told the publication that one such ad on the shadow forum was posted by “a certain English-speaking user”, but it was removed due to the ban on “working on RU”. The company Infosecurity, which specializes in information security, claimed that the records were leaked at no cost.
