The work of the IKEA retail chain in the "behind closed doors" mode will last until August 31 this year. This is stated in the IKEA Trade Union community on the VKontakte social network.
“Due to the inability to establish uninterrupted supplies in the near future for the full functioning of the company’s trading activities, the current work of stores / studios in the “behind closed doors” mode is extended until August 31,” the publication says. This information was confirmed to RBC Novosibirsk by the HEAD of the local branch of the trade union of IKEA workers, Nina Kharitonova.
In early March, the IKEA press service reported that the company had suspended the work of retail outlets in RUSSIA amid a special operation in Ukraine. The RBC Novosibirsk company indicated that "all IKEA employees in Russia will work as usual with the preservation of wages and all benefits for three months."
The Minister of Labor and Social Development of the Novosibirsk Region, Elena Bakhareva, announced on March 23 that 536 employees of the regional branch of IKEA are idle. However, Olga Lavrova, head of the employment department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Novosibirsk Region, later clarified that the company had withdrawn the notice of downtime.
In mid-April, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov said that the company was looking for the possibility of reopening stores in Russia.
