French President Emmanuel Macron called unfounded and outrageous criticism of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in his address because of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, TF1 reports.
“I do not deny that I constantly communicated with President Putin. I did this without naivety back in 2017 (then Macron became president. -). I never indulged him, unlike others. I think it's my duty," the French leader said.
Morawiecki said the talks between Macron and Putin did not help prevent hostilities in Ukraine and demanded "clear and decisive" sanctions against Russia.
Macron pointed out that Morawiecki "meddles in the French election campaign" and supports Macron's rival, Marine Le Pen, because he met with her several times.
