For the first time in the Vologda region in animal husbandry, transplantation of cattle embryos is being tested. Pioneers in the region in the application of this method of reproduction of animals were the breeding plants of the Gryazovetsky district: the stud farm-collective farm named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR and the Pokrovskoye stud farm LLC. The average productivity of a dairy herd in these organizations is more than 10,000 kg of MILK, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reported.
Transplantation is a method of accelerated reproduction by obtaining an embryo from a "donor", that is, a highly productive, high-value cow, from which the eggs are taken and the embryos of the future fetus are obtained. Next, the embryo is transferred to a "recipient" - less valuable, for example, with low productivity, but a healthy animal, which is used to carry the fetus.
This method is used to accelerate the production of highly productive animals, the accelerated creation of new lines, families, which will lead to the improvement of the breed being bred. Transplantation will allow one highly productive cow to produce several dozen offspring per year.
Services for the transplantation of bovine embryos will be provided by Nova-Korova LLC.
