The World Organization for Animal HEALTH (OIE) announced the registration of 520 outbreaks of especially dangerous animal diseases in 20 countries over the past week. The most common are African swine fever (ASF) and highly pathogenic avian influenza.
The vast majority of ASF outbreaks were registered in Hungary and Romania - 135 and 40, respectively. All other countries in Africa and the EU accounted for 6 cases.
But outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza subtypes H5N1, H5N5 and H5N8 literally covered the entire map of Europe. Sad leadership holds Denmark - 169 centers. A significant number of outbreaks (54) were also recorded in Germany. In addition, highly pathogenic avian influenza has been reported in Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, the Czech Republic and Sweden. In total, in Europe, the disease among agricultural and wild birds was noted in 251 outbreaks. There is also one case in Mali.
