The European Union will impose restrictive measures against the Mir payment system as part of the 19th sanctions package against RUSSIA, EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas announced on social media.

"We are also working on the Russian payment system Mir," she wrote, discussing "measures against Russian sanctions-busting schemes in third countries."

The 19th package, in particular, includes new sanctions against Russian liquefied natural gas and vessels. Measures will be imposed against Russian banks, 118 vessels suspected of transporting Russian oil , and, for the first time, against cryptocurrency platforms.

The European Commission (EC) also proposed lowering the price ceiling for Russianoil up to $47.6 per barrel.

In addition, as part of the new sanctions package, the European Commission will ban the EXPORT of a number of ores, metals, chemicals and salts, and tighten export controls for industries in Russia, India and CHINA .

Moscow considers Western sanctions illegal. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the Russian economy continues to operate under "a huge number of sanctions" and has developed "a certain immunity" to them.
