Murmansk failed to elect a mayor

The Council of Deputies of Murmansk was unable to elect the mayor of the city, this position remains vacant. This is stated in the message on the website of the Council.

The deputies voted. Two candidates competed for the mayor's post: Yury Serdechkin, Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region, and Aleksey Lukichev, the former HEAD of the Murmansk Aviation Forest Protection Base. At the same time, Lukichev is 65 years old, and at that age, as noted in the regional prosecutor's office, it is no longer possible to take up municipal service.

During the secret ballot, the majority of deputies (nine people) abstained from the election. Seven voted for Serdechkin, Lukichev received five votes.

The duties of the mayor are temporarily performed by the deputy head of the administration, Valentina Dotsnik.
