The US Department of Commerce has extended EXPORT restrictions on Rossiya Airlines for 180 days. The corresponding resolution was entered into the electronic database of the Federal Register.

“I grant the request <...> to extend the temporary denial [of export privileges] issued on 15 November 2022. I believe that the extension of this order is necessary from the point of view of the public interest, ”says the order, signed by Assistant Secretary of Commerce Matthew Axelrod. The document will be published on May 17 and will take effect immediately.

The document prohibits the airline, as well as persons acting on its behalf, from dealing in goods, software or technology exported or to be exported from the United States. This applies to the purchase, sale, supply, storage, disposal, shipping, transportation, financing or other maintenance of such goods, as well as other transactions with them.

After the start of the Russian special operation, the United States banned the maintenance of American-made aircraft under export control as a sanction measure. Such aircraft were banned from receiving any services, including abroad. The ban covers refueling, maintenance, repair of such aircraft, sale of spare parts - all of which, according to the US, violate export regulations.
