Chervyakov: the potential of regions with a population of 80 thousand people or more is quite high

December 2, Pinsk. The potential of regions with a population of 80,000 or more is high enough to fulfill the tasks of their accelerated development. Economy Minister Alexander Chervyakov told journalists in Pinsk before a visiting meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers, BelTA has learned.

"The potential of these regions is quite high - it is 1.5 million inhabitants, 15% of those employed in the economy, which form almost 30% of industrial production and 20% of exports. We believe that it is not fully used. There are reserves. Therefore, today at the Presidium we are considering reserves," Alexander Chervyakov said.

First of all, the Ministry of Economy sees these reserves in the cooperative ties of enterprises located in these territories, and in the development of new industries to increase the localization of import substitution. The second direction is to increase labor productivity in organizations where it is still quite low. The third direction is the processing of local raw materials, primarily of the agro-industrial complex.

"The products that are produced here on the spot need to be produced more and those enterprises that process them need to be loaded: dairies, MEAT processing plants, feed mills. And for this, the development of agriculture is necessary. The task of increasing agricultural production has been set by the HEAD of state, so it must be fulfilled. In general, if we consider the development of these regions, there are reserves, resources have been identified, tasks have been set and specified. All that remains is to carry out and organize the work," the minister concluded.

The offsite meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers is chaired by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko. In the first half of the day, the Prime Minister visited Luninets, where he visited the private unitary enterprise "Victoria" and got acquainted with the activities and prospects for the development of the Luninets dairy plant. In turn, the heads of ministries and departments visited the enterprises and organizations of Pinsk - CJSC Pinskdrev Holding Company, OJSC Kuzlitmash. Minister of HEALTH Dmitry Pinevich visited the central city hospital, Minister of Information Vladimir Pertsov visited the editorial office of the newspaper Pinskі Vesnik.
