Trends

Reporting on sustainable development in RUSSIA is actively discussed at the level of government organizations. Despite the fact that ESG reporting remains voluntary, the number of recommendations from the Ministry of Economic Development and the Bank of Russia is increasing. Environmental legislation also tends to become more complex and stringent.

Although the agro-industrial complex is not a leading industry in sustainable development, it is confidently demonstrating success. In the final ranking for 2023, the RAEX agency noted the Steppe Agroholding, Inarktika, RusAgro, Cherkizovo Group, Efirnoe and the Miratorg Trading Company. And at the recent discussion “Challenges and Opportunities of the Russian Agro-Industrial Complex in the Context of the Global Trend for Sustainable Development,” the groups of companies “EFKO”, “EkoNiva” and “RusAgro” shared their green practices.

So, the trend for reporting on sustainable development has not disappeared anywhere: major players and the state continue to take steps in this direction.

What should the rest of the business do?

In short, create sustainability reports based on plans to reduce and compensate for environmental impact.

In January, the first Sustainability Report M16.Tech was released. We asked Daria Pavlyuchenko, DIRECTOR of the company, what prompted the company to start reporting.

“We see that sustainable development is a trend everywhere. We regularly participate in reforestation events, but we realized that we wanted a more systematic approach. The eco-project “My Footprint” analyzed our work processes, described sustainable practices, and now we understand how to build a further strategy.

We at the company believe that we should try to understand such trends at the start, and not wait until legislative changes suddenly come to us, but we are not ready and we are hearing the abbreviation ESG for the first time.”

Daria Pavlyuchenko, director of M16.Tech

The M16.Tech sustainable development report includes an analysis of the market for AI technologies for the agricultural sector, an assessment of the industry’s carbon capacity, M16.Tech’s best sustainable practices and a forecast for the digitalization of the agricultural sector.

The M16.Tech ESG report will be of interest to clients and partners, agribusinesses who want to learn about digitalization and the use of artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector, as well as anyone who wants to understand what sustainable reporting is for medium-sized businesses.
