August 14, MINSK . Olga Panes, HEAD of the gastroenterology department #1 of the 10th Minsk City Clinical Hospital and chief gastroenterologist of the Minsk HEALTH Committee, told journalists what causes gastritis and how to prevent fatty liver disease, a BELTA correspondent reports.
Olga Panes shared that she is often asked whether it is possible to get gastritis and whether it is necessary to eat soup every day. "In fact, gastritis does not develop from food. We work with chronic gastritis, and this is a morphological diagnosis that is made by a specialist after performing a gastroscopy and taking biopsy material. As for the pain that our patients experience after consuming this or that food, this is dyspepsia, dyspeptic disorders. And yes, they can be provoked by food. Among the international recommendations that we widely use in our work (to avoid gastrointestinal disorders. - Note by BELTA) is limiting such products as spicy foods, mayonnaise , ketchup, carbonated drinks, including fast food, - she said. - It is impossible to eat gastritis, but the disorder, heaviness, pain, belching, bloating can really occur from some foods. In general, there are foods with increased gas formation: cabbage, peas , beans. Here you just need to limit these products or use natural gas suppressants - dill, fennel."
"As for soup, it is a wonderful product that in certain cases has the required caloric value, but there are no standard international recommendations for daily consumption," the specialist added.

The gastroenterologist also spoke about the prevention of metabolically associated fatty liver disease. "It used to be called steatohepatitis. This disease is associated with the accumulation of excess fat in our liver, and this is a controllable factor. Here it is worth paying attention to what you eat, how you eat and in what quantities. Excessive accumulation of fat can occur primarily when our body is overloaded with fatty foods, including hidden fats, which are contained, for example, in sausages. That is, this does not mean that these products should not be consumed. You can, but not daily, not weekly. Cook MEAT , fish - they will reduce the amount of harmful fats. You also need to control the amount of vegetable and animal oil in food, as well as fried foods, - Olga Panes emphasized. - Fatty liver disease can lead to cirrhosis. This is an adult disease, but it also occurs in children. And if there is alsoALCOHOL , then the disease develops much faster."

Overeating in the evenings can result in another common disease of the digestive organs. "This is gastroesophageal reflux disease. Evening heavy meals, after which we, of course, go to lie down and rest, cause us a situation in which all the contents in the stomach begin to redistribute and push out hydrochloric acid, which is normally contained in our stomach, closer to the esophagus. And this, in turn, causes burns, pain, cough (sometimes to asthma). Therefore, evening meals should be light and, as a rule, three hours before bedtime. Then this disease can be avoided," concluded Olga Panes.
