Mass calving began in the Stavropol Territory

One of the most important periods in the livestock farms of the region has started. The future of the entire calf population depends on how much care the livestock breeders show today. This year, calving is expected from 15,000 cows. it is planned to get over 13 thousand calves. 1200 cows have already calved in the agricultural enterprises of the region.
“Despite the fact that the spring turned out to be cold and snowy, the condition of the cows is good. Now one of the main tasks of the livestock breeders of the region is to preserve and increase the resulting young animals, ”said Viktor Fetisov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
The calving began in two agricultural enterprises of the Ipatovsky district, engaged in beef cattle breeding. For the livestock breeders of the district, the task of reproduction is to get a healthy offspring at a favorable time of the year, so that the timing of the rearing of young animals coincides with the period in which conditions are most conducive to their good development. In the SEC PZ "Second Pyatiletka" 94 calves were obtained from 94 cows. ZAO PZ im. VV Kalyagin calved 246 cows and 29 heifers. The livestock breeders of the enterprise received 275 calves.
Favorable weather conditions last year allowed the Ipatovsky livestock breeders to procure more than 17.8 thousand tons of hay, 20.9 thousand tons of haylage, 11.9 thousand tons of straw, 28.5 thousand tons of silage. As a result, the provision of feed was 118%.
