British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged G7 leaders to vaccinate people worldwide by the end of 2022, Belfast Telegraph reports.

“I call on my fellow G7 leaders to join us to end this terrible pandemic <...> Vaccinating the whole world by the end of next year will be the greatest achievement in the history of medicine,” he said.

Fighting covid-19 is the greatest challenge of the post-war era, he said, and it is up to G7 leaders to lead a "global recovery."

Thus, Johnson intends to raise this issue next week, when the G7 will hold a regular session under the British presidency.

During the upcoming meeting, the Prime Minister also expects to discuss the need to increase the production of vaccines against COVID-19, try to agree on lowering barriers to the international distribution of these vaccines and on increasing the exchange of excess doses with developing countries through the COVAX initiative.
