In the Vitebsk region in 2022, farms of all categories sold about 229 thousand tons of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight, which is 3% more than the same indicator in 2021. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent in the main statistical office of the Vitebsk region.
At the beginning of 2023, there were almost 524 thousand heads of cattle, about 415 thousand heads of pigs and more than 7.3 million heads of poultry in agricultural organizations, farms and private households of citizens. "The main share of livestock and poultry in 2022 was accounted for by agricultural organizations. 96.9% of the total number of cattle in the region, 93.8% of poultry and 94.1% of pigs were concentrated here. Last year, farms of all categories were sold for slaughter in live weight of about 229 thousand tons of livestock and poultry, which is 3% higher than the same indicator in 2021. More than 42% of this number accounted for the sale of poultry.A third of the total sales were pigs,At the same time, in 2022, the production of basic agricultural products decreased compared to 2021. The farms of the northern region of Belarus received more than 755 thousand tons of MILK, which is 3.6% less, and produced 2.1% less eggs - almost 470 million pieces.
In the Vitebsk region, according to the regional statistics, as of January 1, 2023, there were 13.7 thousand sheep, 9.2 thousand goats and 3.4 thousand horses. In 2022, the farms of the region produced 12.4 tons of wool.
