June 8, Polotsk region. The farms of the Vitebsk region need to actively start harvesting fodder. Alexander Subbotin, chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, stated this during a regional seminar-meeting on organizing and conducting a fodder campaign, BelTA has learned.

Qualitatively and on time to prepare feed - this is the task facing farmers. During this stage of field work in the region, it is planned to procure 1.2 million tons of feed units, or 30 centners per HEAD of livestock. The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee emphasized that forage harvesting is no less important than the sowing and harvesting campaigns, and it will affect the state of the region's economy. The quality of MILK and MEAT directly depends on work in the fields.

"From the harvest of 2022, the Vitebsk region plans to procure fodder, taking into account the creation of a one and a half year supply. It is necessary to procure on time, with high quality and enough energy, proteins in the feed. This is the work of narrow specialists and, of course, all farmers - from machine operators to managers - to organize more than 200 mechanized units have been created in the region in order to lay silo trenches as quickly as possible. The equipment has been pulled up and repaired as much as possible, preservatives have been produced, and related products have been purchased: films, twine. It remains only to start on the whole front, we have not yet fully started in the region due to its geographical location.Today we formally give the go-ahead for the mass procurement of fodder in the Vitebsk region," said Alexander Subbotin.

The head of the northern region emphasized that the farms need to actively start harvesting grass fodder. They are given two weeks to carry out the first mowing - until June 20-23. For this, agricultural enterprises must mobilize, organize work on weekends, and, if necessary, ensure the transfer of equipment.

According to Alexander Subbotin, under the pressure of sanctions, the correctness of the strategy chosen several years ago is obvious. One of the main bets is on food. “Belarus traditionally occupied the top places in the world, despite our size, in terms of exports and presence in 120 countries. We trade in food products, we have the second, third, fourth place in cheese, butter, milk powder. Therefore, the strategy developed a few years ago will continue to be implemented. The sanctions conditions show the correctness of the decision made then. Traditionally, we focus on large-scale production in agriculture. Perhaps in the future, depending on changing conditions, they will be even more transformed, enlarged. The space between the structures, I hope, will be occupied by our farmers.milk or some other product," the head of the region said.
