March 14, MINSK. This year, Belarus will continue to increase the volume of food supplies to RUSSIA, Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats told reporters on the sidelines of the II Belarusian Food Forum in St. Petersburg , BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

Over the past year, Belarus has managed to increase trade with Russia by a third, and the number of deliveries has also increased. “Over the past year , foodstuffs worth $667 million were supplied to the St. Russian market. We plan to finish this year no worse than the previous one," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The II Belarusian Food Forum is taking place in St. Petersburg on March 14 and 15. Its goal is to increase the supply of food from the Republic of Belarus to retail trade networks in the regions of the Russian Federation. The event gathered a huge number of interested people. More than 20 enterprises of the processing industry of Belarus represent a wide range of food products. "Our enterprises are represented with dignity. The consumers of the Leningrad region are interested, because Belarus demonstrates a very high-quality product that is very popular," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

According to him, on the sidelines of the forum there are discussions about improving the quality and expanding the range of products. "We are interested in certain products of the Russian Federation and want to bring our interests closer in production and processing technologies. In particular, the Leningrad region is a very advanced region in terms of animal husbandry and MILK production. it combines technology with high organizational skills of leaders who use the best animal husbandry approaches. Most the main thing is that there are people here who give themselves completely to their favorite work," Leonid Zayats emphasized.
