March 15, Gomel. Several projects for the production of eco-friendly packaging are being implemented in the Gomel region, BelTA informs with reference to the website of the regional committee of natural resources and environmental protection.

Belarus is gradually moving from plastic packaging of goods to environmentally friendly, made of paper. Sales of products in glass containers are increasing. Requirements have been established that require the mandatory presence of paper bags, disposable paper tableware, etc. in retail outlets. Enterprises in the southeastern region are also oriented towards the production of packaging, bag paper for manufacturers of paper bags and bags.

Thus, at the Dobrush paper mill "Geroy Truda" the implementation of an investment project to organize the production of coated and uncoated types of cardboard continues. This will allow the production of bleached cellulose cardboard for the manufacture of printing products, packaging for food products and goods for various purposes.

Also, according to the committee, the Gomel plant of commercial equipment has mastered the production of bags from organic polymer Ecovi-oF23D1 based on corn starch. These bags are recommended for food packaging. Their advantage is that after use they are completely decomposed by composting.

“The issue of creating on the basis of Svetlogorsk CCC OJSC a promising production of special types of packaging paper for the production of new types of products is also being worked out. We are talking about white craft, sack paper with special properties. This paper will provide the entire domestic market, in cooperation with bag manufacturers, in containers for packing FLOUR, SUGAR, MILK powder, animal feed, cement, dry building mixes and EXPORT about 80% of products to the EU and Asia," the report says.

This is how conditions are gradually created for each person to refuse to use disposable packaging. "People's perception of packaging is also changing: earlier it was perceived as something as cheap as possible, light and, as a result, short-lived, now the concept of packaging is being rethought," the regional committee said.

In 2021, World Consumer Rights Day, which is celebrated today, is dedicated to solving the problem of plastic pollution of the planet. And Belarus pays great attention to this topic. Decree of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus No. 14 dated February 19, 2020 defines a list of disposable plastic tableware, the use and sale of which is prohibited in public catering facilities from January 1, 2021. This list also includes forks, spoons, glasses, plates, etc. A number of measures are being taken in the industrial and information sphere to turn the situation into an ecological direction.

As environmentalists specify, plastic pollution of the environment is a global problem that requires the participation of not only the government, interested bodies, but also every person. “According to statistics, on average, one resident of the country generates about 400 kg of waste per year, of which only a quarter is recycled and involved in economic circulation. , films, etc. Today, the population has an alternative to replacing plastic packaging, including disposable with reusable, which can be recycled. Each of us is a consumer and must understand the responsibility for our actions, including environmental pollution" - summed up in the committee.
