January 25, MINSK. HEAD of the Department of International Relations, Patents, Licensing and Information Work of the Institute of Environmental Management of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Svetlana Gapeyeva spoke to a BelTA correspondent about developments for agriculture on the sidelines of the exhibition of scientific and technological achievements "Intellectual Belarus" to a BelTA correspondent.

The institute's exhibition mainly presents products based on peat and sapropel. “In Belarus, peat is the only mineral that exists in large quantities. Its reserves have been explored, our institute is just engaged in exploring peat reserves and evaluating peat deposits. This mineral can be of different types and some preparations require a certain type of peat,” Svetlana explained. Gapeev.

The institute's booth presents samples of granulated fertilizers, plant growth stimulants, as well as products for livestock. "Granular fertilizers are processed mineral fertilizers combined with peat. They have a prolonged action and are not washed out by the first rain, they can be applied once a season and forgotten. Organics dissolve slowly due to what is retained by peat. We also have a ferrocin-containing sorbent based on peat, which is used mainly for cattle. Ferrocine has been proven to work twice as well when peat is present. In addition, we have a line of plant growth stimulants that is constantly being refined and expanded. We are starting to add various micronutrients, in mainly humic acids. All plants need them and are used for spraying and watering",

The institute also develops the production of activated carbons. “They are not produced in Belarus, but are supplied mainly from RUSSIA. Now we are developing an installation for the production of active carbons, which can be used in the medical, food industry and technical needs for water purification and everything else,” Svetlana Gapeeva added.

The exhibition of scientific and technological achievements "Intellectual Belarus" was organized in pursuance of the instructions of the head of state given during a working meeting with the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov on October 18, 2022. Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, representatives of educational institutions, research public and private organizations of the country, technoparks that are engaged in scientific research demonstrate their achievements and developments. The exhibition features more than 400 exhibits. Among them are full-scale samples (including large-sized equipment), mock-ups, multimedia presentations on large screens.
