June 29, Gorodok. The pandemic to some extent helped to raise the prestige of the grain grower profession and showed that farmers are important both for a particular region and for the country. Alexander Subbotin, chairman of the Vitebsk regional executive committee, shared this opinion in response to a question from a BelTA correspondent after the graduation ceremony for graduates of the Gorodok State Agrarian and Technical College.

At a certain time, according to the HEAD of the region, there was a shift in the priorities of young people towards the professions of artists, bloggers, some of whose representatives from TV screens and computers broadcast sometimes distorted values and set not the best example. "There is a blessing in disguise: the pandemic came and showed that a DOCTOR is a necessary profession, a teacher is an archival specialty, that farmers are simply necessary, and without them we are nowhere. We are starting to return to the fact that people who grow bread receive MILK, are very important and they have worthy professions, and this happens all over the world. I think that life will put everything in its place, and we will try to do it more quickly,” said Alexander Subbotin.

The chairman of the regional executive committee added that mid-level specialists are that stratum of the working class, which is critically lacking not only in agriculture, but in all sectors. It is possible to raise the prestige of working professions through decent wages, however, early career guidance should also bear fruit. He also stressed that all conditions are being created in the institutions of secondary specialized and vocational education in the Vitebsk region, including the strengthening of the material and technical base, so that the guys not only get professions, but become highly qualified specialists that meet modern requirements, are technically savvy and have skills in including high-tech equipment.
