Consumption of dairy products in Russia increased by 800 thousand tons, reaching 240 kg per person per year.
The volume of commercial milk production increased to 23.5 million tons, almost a million tons of dairy products were exported — the XII Congress of the National Union of Milk Producers of Russia (Soyuzmoloko) summed up the results of 2020.
The participants also discussed the challenges of 2021, the prospects for the development of the dairy business in the new economic conditions, as well as current state support measures, relations with retail chains and credit organizations, and outlined a plan for the next steps.
The event was attended by the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev. He noted that in 2020 the dairy industry of the Russian Federation showed the best result over the past 10 years. The Ministry of Agriculture is counting on further positive dynamics and expects milk production in 2021 to be at least 32.6 million tons. With the help of the state, this will be easier to achieve.
According to the HEAD of the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2020, 28.3 billion rubles were allocated to state support for milk and dairy products producers in the form of subsidies, soft loans, reimbursement of part of capital costs and grants. In 2021, all existing state support measures will be maintained.
