June 12, MINSK . Belarus and Cuba intend to significantly expand the areas of promising cooperation, including in the field of healthcare. This was stated to journalists by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Yevgeny Shestakov following the 11th meeting of the Belarusian-Cuban joint commission on trade and economic cooperation, BELTA reports.

He said that the parties discussed the important topic of supplies of Belarusian food products to Cuba, and primarily MILK powder. “We agreed to take all necessary measures to increase the EXPORT of these products on the basis of previously signed framework agreements for the annual supply of fixed volumes (8 thousand tons) of powdered milk,” noted Evgeny Shestakov. “We agreed on further steps on joint investment projects - the creation of an enterprise in Cuba for assembly of tractor equipment, joint production of whole milk products from Belarusian raw materials on the basis of a dairy complex near Havana."
The deputy minister also said: “We seriously considered issues of cooperation in the healthcare sector: from drug registration to the release of joint products. Successful cooperation in this area could accelerate the penetration of Belarusian medicines into the markets of Latin American countries and contribute to the consolidation of Cuban medicines in the markets of the EAEU countries.”

According to Evgeny Shestakov, specific measures are also planned to develop cooperation in the fields of science, education and tourism.

“The implementation of all the agreements reached will make it possible to develop the positive dynamics of bilateral trade, which began in 2023,” summed up the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.
