Ministry of Agriculture and Food: Brest region is strategically important for the republic in terms of its export potential

April 6, Kobrin. The Brest region is a strategically important region for the republic in terms of its EXPORT potential, Minister of Agriculture and Food Igor Brylo told reporters in Kobrin today, BelTA has learned.

"We have plenty of reserves for exporting products. We produce 828 kg of MILK per capita (this is one of the best results in the world) and 137 kg of MEAT. The level of self-sufficiency in milk in the country is 256%, meat - 135%. This indicates that that we completely close our domestic market and export more than half of the milk produced.If you look at the segment of the Brest region, out of the $6.7 billion we exported last year, it accounts for 26.5%. this region as a whole is strategically important for the republic in terms of export potential and agricultural production," the minister said.

He noted that the Brest region deserved the highest rating in all indicators, in particular in livestock.

Today in Kobrin, the winners of the annual regional competition for achieving high performance in livestock production in 2021 are honored. Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Yury Shuleiko takes part in the solemn event.
