In Ukraine, state support for farmers throughout the country will increase next year. We are talking about small and medium-sized farms that are mainly engaged in animal husbandry.
This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Roman Leshchenko on the air of "Snidanok z 1 + 1".
“First, we have corrected the mistake of the liquidation of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. The Ministry dealt with both the economy and agriculture. We have restored the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, which deals exclusively with farmers. We have created new government programs to support small and medium farmers. And next year, state support will increase for farmers throughout the country. We are talking about small and medium-sized farmers who are mainly engaged in animal husbandry. Mistakes need to be corrected,” said Roman Leshchenko.
According to him, due to the fact that the prices for grain products have grown very much and the cost of feed is more than 80%, it has become very unprofitable to keep cows. In addition, “vague government support in connection with these transformations has led to the fact that agrarians and small farms have not received what they were promised.”
“And the risks are such that they began to optimize the livestock. This year there is a state program and a record harvest to balance the price. We plan to additionally allocate about a billion hryvnias only for small family farms, which is about UAH 10-12 thousand per cow per year,” Leshchenko added.
