Linevich: China is an important trade and economic partner of Belarus in the agro-food sector

From 5 to 10 November, the large-scale import exhibition China International Import Expo (CIIE) is taking place at the National Exhibition Center in Shanghai. The area of ​​the exhibition facility is about 1.5 million square meters, which makes it one of the largest indoor spaces in the world. This year, domestic locations bring together about 60 enterprises, organizations and institutions. According to the exhibition unitary enterprise "Belinterexpo" of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of more than 180 countries are participating in the events. The Belarusian delegation is headed by Minister of Agriculture and Food Anatoly Linevich.

"Over the years of cooperation with China, Belarus has developed strong and friendly relations in many areas of the economy. China is an important trade and economic partner for our country and in the agro-food sector," the HEAD of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized during the opening of the national exposition. "For Belarus, agriculture is the most important area of ​​human activity, determining not only the wealth of the nation, but to a large extent social and political stability in society. The national industry accounts for about 7.7% of the country's gross domestic product, and crop production and livestock farming are developing dynamically."
In general, the food security index for all food items in Belarus is exceeded by 1.5-3 times. The country not only satisfies its own domestic demand for most types of food, but also has serious EXPORT potential. As specified by the agricultural department, Belarus is on the list of key exporters of dairy products and exporters of MEAT products.

In particular, last year, trade between Belarus and China in food products increased by 23% compared to 2022. Belarusian meat and dairy products , rapeseed oil , confectionery, and chocolate are in demand on the Chinese market . Citrus fruits, canned fruits and vegetables, garlic, mushrooms, seaweed , confectionery, fish products, vegetable seeds, nuts, and ginger are imported from China to our country. As the Ministry of Agriculture and Food assured, Belarus is ready to increase supplies of meat and dairy products in assortment, and confectionery. There is potential in exchanging experience and implementing joint projects in processing dairy and meat products.


Thus, Shanxi Province Governor Jin Xiangjun has already visited the national pavilion of Belarus. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food reported that a business meeting was also held with the head of the China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Food Products, Locally Produced Products and By-Products of Animal Origin Cao Derong.
