December 26, MINSK. On December 31 Belarus will host the Single Day of Road Safety under the motto "The road does not forgive mistakes," Irina Boyarchuk, senior inspector for agitation and propaganda of the traffic police department of the Oktyabrsky police department of Minsk, told BelTA.

On this day, employees of the State traffic inspectorate will take measures aimed at preventing and suppressing the facts of driving vehicles by drivers who are intoxicated, as well as preventing accidents with their participation.

Traffic police inspectors, as well as public security police officers will strengthen control on the roads, paying special attention to identifying drunk road users. Traffic police squads will be close to entertainment establishments, trade facilities, primarily those operating around the clock.

As noted by the HEAD of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Oktyabrsky District Administration of Minsk, Dmitry Burdyuk, ALCOHOL intoxication affects the speed of decision-making and behavior on the road, thus the driver endangers not only his life, but also the lives of other road users.

In January-November, 22 accidents occurred on the roads of Minsk due to the fault of drunk drivers, in which four people died and 28 were injured. In particular, in the territory of the Oktyabrsky district of the capital, 153 facts of driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol were revealed over 11 months .

The country has severe liability for drivers who allowed themselves to drive while intoxicated. So, if the air exhaled by the offender contains from 0.3 to 0.8 ppm of alcohol, the driver faces a fine of 100 BV (today it is Br2.9 thousand) and deprivation of the right to drive for a period of three years. If this indicator is exceeded, the fine will already be 200 BV (Br5.8 thousand) with deprivation of the right to drive for 5 years. And if the driver, within a year after the imposition of an administrative penalty for the same violations, again gets behind the wheel in a state of intoxication, he is already threatened with criminal liability.

The police call on citizens to inform the internal affairs authorities about the facts of driving vehicles by drunk drivers. If you see that a drunk driver is getting behind the wheel, then immediately report it by phone 102 or to the duty department of the UGAI GUVD of the Minsk City Executive Committee by phone: +375 (17) 222-17-17.
