Belarus is ready to share its experience in the agro-industrial complex and strengthen multilateral cooperation with the SCO countries. This was stated by
Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Yury Gorlov at the 10th Meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which took place in the city of Kunming, People's Republic of

The theme of the event was strengthening exchange in the field of agricultural policy, building a more cohesive and prosperous family of SCO agricultural cooperation. Representatives of
China , Belarus,
RUSSIA, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan took part in the meeting.
Yury Gorlov noted that Belarus, as a new SCO member since July
2024 , considers the agricultural sector as a strategic priority. For the first time this year, an agro-industrial exposition of the SCO member states was organized at the site of the Belagro International Exhibition in Minsk. "This is a clear indication that our country is ready to share experience and strengthen multilateral cooperation to achieve a common goal - sustainable development of agriculture and food security," the minister said.
He presented the key achievements of the agro-industrial complex of Belarus: the country is among the world leaders in
MILK and
MEAT production per capita, provides a high degree of food security (over 100% self-sufficiency in basic products) and actively develops
the EXPORT of agricultural products to more than 100 countries around the world, including the SCO states.
The Minister reported that the turnover of food products and agricultural raw materials between Belarus and the SCO countries increased by 1.6 times last year compared to 2020, with more than 85% of Belarusian agricultural exports going to the organization's countries.
To further develop cooperation, the Minister proposed a number of initiatives, including expanding scientific and technical partnerships in the field of selection and biotechnology, simplifying customs procedures, launching joint educational programs, and participating in international exhibitions.
Yuri Gorlov expressed confidence that the combined efforts of the SCO countries will make
it possible to turn
agriculture into a driver of sustainable development. Following the event, the ministers signed a joint statement.
