21 July,
MINSK . Despite the difficulties, the parties found opportunities to conclude contracts for the supply of Belarusian products to Cuba. This was stated by Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko following an official visit to Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, a BELTA correspondent reports.
There are no problems in the political relations between Belarus and Cuba, but in Cuba "the situation is difficult - the tightening of the American blockade has actually seriously reduced revenues to the Cuban budget," he explained.
"Therefore, there is a need for absolutely everything there: food, equipment, but there are difficulties with financial resources. Despite this, we found opportunities to conclude a contract for the supply of Belarusian products there," Roman Golovchenko noted. The solution was found by concluding contracts for the supply of goods both with direct payment and through the import of Cuban products in demand in Belarus.
"And in these conditions, leaving Cuba with contracts worth millions of dollars is also quite a serious result," the Prime Minister added. "I believe that the trip to Cuba was also productive. Not only are we leaving with signed contracts, but we have also laid down a lot of groundwork to implement in the future."
The official visit of the Prime Minister of Belarus to Latin American countries ended on July 20. Roman Golovchenko visited Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, where agreements on cooperation were reached. In particular,
Belarus and
Venezuela outlined steps to restart joint projects in industry and other areas. Agreements on the supply of tractors, powdered
MILK, and cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector were reached with Cuba. In Nicaragua, contracts were signed for the supply of more than 700 units of equipment for a total of $85 million.
