MINSK . The first exchange trades of cherries for the domestic market were successfully held at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the BUCE.
During the trading session for the sale of food raw materials, groceries and fruit and vegetable products, one of the domestic
SUGAR producers purchased 20 tons of frozen first-class pitted cherries. The seller was a Belarusian enterprise engaged in the procurement, freezing and processing of berries and mushrooms. Thus, the range of fruit and vegetable products available for purchase on the exchange platform has become even wider and currently includes over 40 items.
"The fruit and vegetable segment is one of the most dynamically developing areas of exchange trading. And first of all, due to the constantly expanding product range. Last year alone,
it was replenished with a number of new items, including such an exotic one as kiwi. In most cases, additional goods are introduced into exchange circulation at the request of trade participants. This was the case with cherries: the exchange received an application to purchase 20 tons of this product, about which all potential suppliers accredited to participate in the trades were notified. And already at the next trading session, the deal took place. However, it happens that suppliers of the required goods do not yet cooperate with the exchange. Then a study of the over-the-counter market is conducted, based on the results of which sellers are purposefully attracted to the trades," the commodity exchange press service said.
Exchange trades in food raw materials, groceries and fruit and vegetable products for the domestic market are held at BUCE twice a week. At the end of
2024 , the total amount of transactions in this area amounted to Br55.6 million, which is 2.2 times more than in 2023. About 100 sellers and 60 buyers regularly participate in trades and make transactions, and the most popular products last year were complex food additives, refined sunflower
oil , cocoa powder, soy protein isolate, starter culture for the production of dairy products and wheat gluten.
