July 4, MINSK. There will be no food shortage on the Belarusian market. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Igor Brylo in an interview with the magazine, BelTA informs.
"In order to meet domestic needs, mainly at the expense of our own resources, a sufficient level of self-sufficiency has developed for such important commodity items as MILK and MEAT, grain and potatoes, SUGAR and vegetable oil," the minister said.The level of self-sufficiency in milk is 256%, meat - 135%, eggs - 126%, grain - 107.5%, potatoes - 100.4%, vegetables - 101.9%, sugar - 176%, vegetable oil - 232%. "There is a significant surplus in these categories of products. This means that our country has become not only a guarantor of its own food security, but also an export-oriented republic," Igor Brylo emphasized.
The minister said that in our country the share of domestically produced food products in the total volume of sales of goods on the domestic market is very large and in many positions is almost at the level of 100%.
For example, in January-March of this year, it amounted to: meat and meat products 99.6%, including pork 99.99%, beef 99.7%, poultry meat 99.3%, edible offal 99.8%, canned food from meat and offal 99%, cheeses 92.6%, butter 99.95%, eggs 100%, FLOUR 87.5%, pasta 66.8%, potatoes 98.2%, beets 94.3%, carrots 99.6%, onion 83.7%, sugar 99.7%.
At the same time, by 2025, grain production is projected to increase to 10 million tons, potatoes - 6 million tons, vegetables - 1.9 million tons, milk - 9.2 million tons, livestock and poultry - 2 million tons. market increase in production will be aimed at increasing exports. This will make it possible to receive an additional amount of foreign exchange earnings without prejudice to the consumer demand of the republic.
In recent years, significant results have been achieved in the production of food and agricultural products, which made it possible to guarantee the fulfillment of the main criteria for food security. The production potential of the agro-industrial complex is growing, and the EXPORT of goods is expanding.
"We are provided with almost all food products and have a certain independence from imports," Igor Brylo added.
According to the rating of countries on food security, Belarus has risen from 36th to 23rd place among 113 countries. At the same time, the neighbor RUSSIA is in 24th place, Poland is 25th, Spain is 26th, Kazakhstan is 32nd, Hungary is 36th.
