July 8, MINSK. The first deal for the sale of skimmed MILK powder to CHINA was concluded at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange . Roman Yaniv, press secretary of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, told a BelTA correspondent about this.

The volume of the pilot batch amounted to 75 tons, and the amount was $250,000. The purpose of the trial deal is to practice the issues of mutual settlements and logistics, which will allow in the future not only to increase the volume of purchases of Belarusian powdered milk, but also to organize the supply of other types of dairy products to the Chinese market, such as like butter, cream, cheeses and whey.

According to the BUCE press service, so far Chinese companies have used the Belarusian stock exchange mainly for the purchase of lumber, which did not make it possible to fully realize the potential of exchange trade between the two countries.

"Of course, the expansion of the product range creates additional opportunities for increasing the volume of mutual trade, so the first successful experience of exporting milk powder to China through the exchange can later be extrapolated to other dairy products listed on the exchange. Plus, that Chinese consumers are already convinced of high quality of Belarusian dairy products by buying them on the over-the-counter market. So now it is important to attract them to the exchange trading platform, where, in addition to access to leading domestic dairy processors, a number of additional services have been introduced that simplify the work of Chinese business in Belarus," the press release said. service.

In the first half of 2022, the exchange trade between Belarus and China reached $41 million, which is 1.5 times more than in the same period last year. The most demanded Belarusian goods in China were edged sawn softwood, while Belarus was mainly supplied with ferrous metallurgy products - rolled sheets and seamless steel pipes.

JSC "Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange" was established in 2004. The first auction took place in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. The main function of the exchange is to assist Belarusian enterprises in exporting products and to help foreign companies enter the Belarusian market. The exchange sells metal, timber, agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods of a wide range.
