February 22, MINSK. In 2021, Belarus ensured an increase in food exports of about $1 billion, Minister of Agriculture and Food Igor Brylo said during a meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, BelTA has learned.
"In 2021, the EXPORT of food products and agricultural raw materials increased by 17.3% by 2020 and reached $6.7 billion. As a result, an increase of about $1 billion was achieved over the year. The positive foreign trade balance amounted to $2.2 billion and increased by $700 million, or by 44% by 2020. The share of supplies of food products and agricultural raw materials in Belarus' total exports amounted to about 17%," said Igor Brylo.
Belarusian food producers supplied products to 109 countries of the world - to the countries of the Eurasian Economic and European Unions, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, South and North America. "More than Br3.5 billion invested in fixed assets, which is 3% higher than in 2020. 59 dairy farms, 12 production facilities for growing and fattening cattle, 6 pig breeding complexes were commissioned, more than 7 thousand units were purchased agricultural machinery and equipment worth more than Br1 billion," the minister said.
