The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus is ready to direct the EXPORT of agricultural products to the markets of Russia and Chinaif the EU tightens sanctions against the republic. This was stated by the HEAD of the department Ivan Krupko in an interview to the Belarus 1 TV channel.
Krupko explained that at present MINSK receives $385 million a year from food sales in Europe, and $195 million in Ukraine. In the event of tougher sanctions pressure, claims against enterprises and restrictions on markets, Minsk will “painlessly switch” to others.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture added that, despite the sanctions against Belarus, the country currently trades in the same proportions on foreign markets. 84% of food products go to the CIS countries. Of these, 73% are the Russian Federation, 16% are third countries.
Earlier, five more countries joined the EU economic sanctions against Belarus. Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, as well as Iceland and Norway agreed with the EU decision on restrictions.
