According to the union, about 70 thousand pigs are currently insured in the Krasnodar Territory. Three pig farms entered into insurance contracts under state support.

In September, a series of outbreaks of African swine fever occurred in the Krasnodar region. Outbreaks were recorded in Krasnodar, Vyselkovsky, Kushchevsky, Krylovsky, Tikhoretsky, Bryukhovetsky, Kalininsky and Leningradsky districts of the region. In particular, the pig farms Impulse LLC, Pobeda JSC, Leningradskoye JSC, Steppe LLC, the processing enterprise Kuban Bacon JSC, and

“According to NSA’s assessment, based on the practice of insurance payments in other regions, the loss of more than 50 thousand heads of pigs means damage to the livestock business in the amount of more than 500 million rubles,” commented Korney Bizhdov. – it was possible to insure such losses. In the practice of agricultural insurance , there are already 3 settled events related to outbreaks of pig diseases, when agricultural insurers paid for such losses: more than 570 million rubles were paid for the death of livestock from foot and mouth disease at the enterprises of the Mikhailovsky Advanced Development Territory in 2019, 539 million rubles - for ASF in the Pskov region in 2021, and 850 million rubles – to one of the largest pig-breeding enterprises in RUSSIA this year.”

The previous case of losses from ASF was recorded in the Krasnodar Territory in December 2022 at the site of Yaseni Trading House LLC, which in 2021 created a pig breeding selection and genetic center. A livestock of over 20 thousand pigs had to be destroyed. This enterprise has not yet restarted its production cycle. As of December 2022, only 8 thousand pigs were insured with state support in the Krasnodar Territory.

“The Krasnodar region was one of the first in Russia to encounter ASF, and over the past 10 years, outbreaks of this disease have been recorded in the region every year, except for 2014 and 2021. Until 2022, this disease predominantly affected animals on private farms, but now practice itself indicates the need to organize insurance coverage for pig farming businesses in Kuban,” points out Korney Bizhdov.
