In February-April, the number of thefts in stores increased: confectionery and sausages most often attracted intruders. Often goods are carried away without payment along with the basket. Theft at self-service checkouts has also become a trend

In the three months of 2022, an average of about 130 thefts were recorded in one store, which is 18% more than a year earlier, according to NTechLab, a developer of a face recognition system collaborating with retailers. At the request of RBC, the company analyzed information about such incidents in retail from February to April 2022, comparing them with statistics for the same period in 2021. Information was analyzed not only in food retail, but in stores selling clothes, children's goods, products for the home, garden and repair.

The rise in food prices in RUSSIA is not associated with transportation costs

In grocery stores, goods are often stolen immediately with a basket, notes NTechLab. The number of such crimes increased by 27% compared to the same period in 2021.
