At the end of the first half of 2021, the number of agricultural poultry affected by the outbreak of bird flu was partially restored in the region, but the number of all other animal species decreased compared to last year. Accordingly, the volume of MEAT production also decreased.
According to the regional office of the Federal State Statistics Service (Omskstat), at the end of June in the Omsk region there were 387.3 thousand heads of cattle (-2.5% yoy), 408.4 thousand heads of pigs (-1.1% ), 241.7 thousand sheep and goats (-2.5%) and 7.8 million poultry (-9.1%). it is noted that the number of livestock is decreasing in agricultural organizations, while in farms, on the contrary, it is increasing.
In August-November last year, the Omsk region experienced a large-scale outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza, which caused enormous damage to the largest supplier of chicken eggs in the region, the Irtysh poultry farm . The number of poultry turned out to be lower than at the end of the first half of 2020, but significantly exceeds the corresponding figure at the end of the year.
In January-June, the Omsk Region produced 85 thousand tons of meat (-7.2% year-on-year), 305.8 thousand tons of MILK (-0.7%) and 237.3 million eggs (-35.8%) .
