On August 2, Japan lifted the ban on the EXPORT of poultry MEAT and eggs from Ukraine, which was introduced in December last year in connection with the spread of pathogenic bird flu in Ukraine. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan made the corresponding decision following rounds of negotiations with diplomats of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and the State Food and Consumer Service, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told ForUm.
The Ukrainian side informed the Japanese partners in detail about measures to combat outbreaks of bird flu.
“We are not only creating new export opportunities for Ukrainian companies, but also restoring access to foreign markets that were closed for one reason or another. Such closure decisions are usually made quickly, but persuading partners to reopen the market takes a long time. I am glad that we managed to convince our Japanese partners of the safety of Ukrainian products, and Ukrainian companies can now export their products again,” said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
“The State Food and Consumer Service, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has done a lot of work to remove restrictions and restore the export of Ukrainian poultry products. Previously, the restrictions were lifted by Jordan, Singapore, Kyrgyzstan and other countries,” said Vladislava Magaletskaya, chairwoman of the department.
Recall that Ukraine has restored the status of a country free from highly pathogenic avian influenza, in accordance with the Terrestrial Animal HEALTH Code of the International Epizootic Bureau.
