In humans, this infectious disease is characterized by sudden fever.
To date, in the territory of Yakutia, eight operating unfavorable points for leptospirosis of animals have been registered, including two in cattle and six in horses. 
 
 Among the dangerous diseases common to humans and animals, leptospirosis occupies an important place. it is an infectious natural focal disease of many species of animals and humans. The disease is registered in all countries of the world. Leptospirosis affects animals of any age, but young animals are more susceptible, and the disease is more severe in them than in adults. Every year there are outbreaks of leptospirosis among animals and even humans. 
 
 - In the current year, from January to September, inspectors of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR Department135 samples of blood serum from cattle from the farms of the republic were delivered to the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for testing for leptospirosis to the federal state budgetary institution "Irkutsk Interregional Veterinary Laboratory". 11 positive results were revealed, - reports the department of personnel, legal and economic support of the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
 
 Leptospira penetrate into the body of animals and humans through damaged areas of the skin, mucous membranes. In the body of an animal, the pathogen can be up to seven months, not manifesting itself in any way and excreting millions of leptospira in the urine, which are dangerous to others. It is manifested by fever, hemoglobinuria, icteric staining and necrosis of the mucous membranes and skin, atony of the gastrointestinal tract, abortions, the birth of non-viable offspring, and a decrease in the productivity of animals. 
 
 People can become infected with leptospirosis while swimming in shallow stagnant water bodies infected with leptospira, when using water for washing, drinking, washing, when slaughtering infected animals, butchering MEAT, when using certain animal products ( MILKand etc.). The rural population often falls ill during haymaking and field cultivation. 
 
 In humans, leptospirosis is characterized by sudden fever (38.5-40'C), hyperemia and puffiness of the face and throat, conjunctival vessels, severe pain in the occipital muscles and chills. A few days later, a polymorphic rash appears on the skin, severe pains are felt in the femoral and calf muscles, their palpation is very painful. General weakness, jaundice, significant headache, loss of appetite, severe thirst, nausea, and vomiting develop. Muscle pain is so severe that patients can hardly move or cannot move at all.
