Also, on the basis of the Don State Agrarian University, a meeting was held on the issues of improving and improving the genetic potential of breeds of farm animals bred in the Rostov region. During the event, it was noted that 488 farms are engaged in dairy cattle breeding in the region, while selection and genetics are the future of Don animal husbandry.
So, to increase the gene pool of breeds, in January of this year, a regional information and breeding center (RISC) was created on the basis of the Rostov Regional Station for the Control of Animal Diseases. The organization issues pedigree certificates, restores primary documentation in pedigree livestock breeding and creates a biocollection of pedigree animals. Later, an immunogenetic laboratory was created on the basis of the RISC.
The next step in improving the genetics of animals in the region is the creation of a laboratory for molecular genetic expertise.
