According to the press service of the online retailer Samokat, sales of fruit, ice cream and soft drinks increased during the hot period. Compared to the period from April 1 to May 31, in the period from June 1 to July 31, users began to order fresh fruits (+141%) and fresh vegetables (+83%) more often. There is especially high demand for summer seasonal vegetables, cherries, peaches, nectarines, apricots, plums, watermelons, melons and eggplants.

“In general, demand has also increased for the following product categories:ice cream (+137%), soft drinks (+108%), frozen prepared foods (+102%), cheeses (+95%), deli meats (+91%), confectionery (+86%), eggs (85% ), bread and bakery products (+83%),” noted Samokat.

The retailer noted interesting facts regarding residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg. In the summer, Muscovites began to order frozen semi-finished products (+103%) and cheeses (+92%) twice as often, while St. Petersburg residents focused on MEAT gastronomy (+ 95%)

The top 3 most popular products according to Samokat for delivery in the summer in Moscow and St. Petersburg look like this:

1.Fresh fruits (in Moscow growth +170%, in St. Petersburg + 140% compared to spring);

2. Ice cream (in Moscow the increase is + 148%, in St. Petersburg + 115%);

3. Non-alcoholic drinks ( Moscow + 107%, St. Petersburg + 104%).

The VkusVill chain of stores said that over the summer months, ice cream sales increased by 49%; the greatest demand among customers is popsicle, MILK chocolate ice cream, cream in a waffle cup and salted caramel.

“In the beverage category, growth is shown by kvass, lemonades, compotes - by 57%, while the demand for juices and hot drinks, on the contrary, is decreasing. The undisputed leader in the number of online sales was kvass; more than 200 thousand liters of the drink were sold in June and July,” explained the VkusVill network.

In June, sales of berries increased by 146%; in May-June, Krasnodar strawberries were the leaders; in July, buyers are increasingly ordering raspberries, currants and blackberries. Sales of stone fruits increased 7.5 times in the summer.

The general trend in consumer demand was confirmed in other retail chains and grocery delivery services. 

The X5 Group, which includes several retail chains, stands out somewhat from the overall picture.

“In the summer, in Pyaterochka express delivery, the absolute leader in sales is SUGAR , followed by sunflower oil , followed by kvass and water.

At the same time, in the Perekrestok retail chain (part of the X5 Group), milk is a summer priority .sour cream , chicken , vegetables, herbs and cheese. 

The online hypermarket Vprok.ru (part of the X5 Group) noted seasonal increased demand for milk and sugar.
