The decline in prices for pork and chicken recorded by Rosstat in the Russian Federation is primarily due to the ban on wheat exports. This was stated to a REGNUM correspondent on April 28 by a member of the information policy committee of the regional branch of the "Party of Growth" in the Samara region, the HEAD of the peasant farm Kirill Ermolenko. This is how he commented on official statistics on the decrease in the cost of pork and chicken MEAT and on the increase in prices for buckwheat and rice.

“As for cheaper pork and chicken, everything is simple. On the one hand, the ban on the EXPORT of wheat provoked a decrease in its value in the domestic market. And the cost of grain, as we remember, is very dependent on the cost of any meat. On the other hand, the wild rise in the price of all meat (when viewed in the context of the last three months) has led to a decrease in its consumption among the population. Our citizens are not ready to buy meat at such prices,” Yermolenko said. - As for buckwheat and rice, we are just starting to sow buckwheat, and it is still difficult to predict something here. But with rice, there are big concerns about its yield by autumn, related to the problems of water supply to the rice fields of the Krasnodar Territory.”
