The growth of gross MILK production in the region is directly related to the development of pedigree livestock farming. The pedigree young animals entering the region's commercial and farming enterprises have a high genetic potential, which contributes to the renewal of the livestock and improvement of products. There are currently 11 pedigree farms in the republic, including 1 gene pool, 2 pedigree plants and 8 reproducers. These enterprises are engaged in breeding both dairy and beef cattle, as well as reindeer.

At the beginning of the year, 2,420 dairy cows and 80 beef cows were registered in Komi. In the field of dairy cattle breeding, the Kholmogory and Ayrshire breeds are developing, while the beef direction is represented by the Hereford, Aberdeen Angus and Galloway breeds. In 2024 , the average productivity of breeding dairy cows increased by 5.9%, reaching 6,722 kg of milk. it is expected that the coverage of artificial insemination of dairy cows will be 91%. A significant role in this activity is played by the RSUSP "Komi", which is engaged in breeding work.
