In the Orenburg district of the Orenburg region, the fact of African swine fever was detected. This was reported in the Department of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR for the region.

15 dead domestic pigs were found on the territory of forest hunting grounds. Laboratory examination showed that they were all sick. The African swine fever (ASF) virus was detected in the animals.

Quarantine measures are currently being taken. Violators of the order of the Ministry of Agriculture of RUSSIA dated October 26, 2020 No. 626 “On approval of the Veterinary rules for the movement, storage, processing and disposal of biological waste” are being established.

it is worth noting that ASF is not dangerous to humans, but is fatal to pigs. The disease has a high degree of lethality, spreads very quickly and causes enormous material damage to agriculture. There is no cure for the disease, no vaccine. The only reliable method of control is the destruction (by burning) of all pigs, wild and domestic, in the focus of infection.
