"At present, for most types of food products, the dynamics of producer prices is within the limits of general inflation, and for a number of categories, prices are now lower than the level for the same period last year," the report says.

Earlier , Rosstat reported that the average increase in prices for fruits and vegetables from July 18 to July 24 amounted to 1%.

As noted in the ministry, in particular, selling prices for potatoes decreased by 32.6% over the year, beets - 14.5%, carrots - 7.3%. Also, onion prices are currently decreasing (by 13.8% over the past week), and this trend will continue as a new crop from domestic producers enters the market. According to the forecast, onion production this year will exceed 1.1 million tons, which is more than the average for the past five years.

"It is also worth noting that this year the Ministry of Agriculture has been implementing a new federal project to stimulate the production of potatoes and vegetables. Its funding for 2023 amounted to 5 billion rubles, which is 2 times more than was allocated for this area in 2022. Support will be provided 76 regions, while the subjects will advance funds for recipients," the message adds.
