Chilled poultry "disappeared" from the shelves of Altai stores, and the cost of products that still appear on sale is higher than a month ago. In Barnaul retail chains, the deficit and rising prices are associated with a fire at the Altai Broiler enterprise, which provided chicken MEAT not only to Altai, but also to other Siberian regions.

Now supermarkets are "in a panic" looking for new poultry suppliers and "creative" solutions to the problem. So, some stores "thaw" frozen carcasses and sell them as chilled. How long will the shortage of products last and what happened to the prices, understood amic.ru.

Residents of Barnaul first felt the shortage of chicken meat in stores last week. According to a resident of the house on the street. Papanintsev, 121, Svetlana Dmitrieva, on July 22 she went around all the shops closest to the house in search of chilled broiler carcasses. However, many stores have even run out of frozen poultry, which has a long shelf life and sometimes goes unsold for months.

“I was in several Maria-Ra stores, in Yarcha, Magnit, I went to butcher shops. There are no chickens anywhere. In some places there are only frozen carcasses, but I don’t trust them, no one knows how many times it was thawed-frozen, and this harms the quality," Svetlana is sure.

In grocery stores, an amic.ru correspondent was confirmed that the chains faced a shortage of chilled carcasses and parts of poultry. This happened due to a fire at the Altai Broiler, which was the main supplier of products to Barnaul stores.

"The Altai Broiler poultry farm burned down, and what we receive from other producers - quite a bit - we immediately put up for sale. They don't say anything yet, how much more there will be a deficit is unknown," an amic correspondent was told.

In some grocery supermarkets in Barnaul, they use a trick: they defrost frozen carcasses, cut them into pieces, pack them and sell them as chilled.

The amic.ru correspondent was told in the stores of the "Magnit" chain that only by the end of last week they had found a new supplier of chilled poultry. It was an enterprise from the Tyumen region, whose products first entered the Altai market. The cost of a carcass is 149 rubles * per kilogram.

The sellers say that they initially counted on the support of the enterprises of the Novosibirsk region and expected an increase in supplies. However, poultry farms in the neighboring region immediately "inflated" prices.

“Because of the fire at the Altai Broiler, Novosibirsk has sharply raised the cost of its products. They generally have “golden” chicken now, a thigh costs almost 300 rubles per kilogram, a wing costs almost 400 rubles,” notes an employee of Magnit.

Nevertheless, supermarket workers are confident that the situation on the market will change, and poultry prices will decrease. But, according to them, this will happen only after the resumption of the work of the Biysk enterprise.

“Everyone is waiting for the Altai Broiler to find a place to butcher and pack the chicken. After all, the processing shop burned down at the enterprise, where the carcasses were slaughtered, butchered and packed. ", - says the seller of Magnit.

According to the Cherkizovo group, which includes the Altai Broiler, the fire at the Biysk enterprise really damaged the warehouse with containers and packaging, as well as the warehouse for finished products. But the manufacturer assured that the poultry houses where broilers are grown were not affected, and the administrative building and the main production equipment of Altai Broiler received minor damage.

However, the consequences of the fire can be much more serious than they say in the company, the expert of the publication "Continent-Siberia" believes.

“According to my information, the compressor equipment was destroyed by fire and the slaughter shop was damaged. This makes it impossible to process poultry into a product ready for sale. According to the design capacity, Altai Broiler can produce up to 3 thousand tons of products per month. The company serves the entire Altai Territory , satisfying part of the needs of other regions of the Siberian Federal District. For example, all the factories of the Novosibirsk Region produced a similar capacity, "explains the expert.

Almost immediately after the emergency at the Altai Broiler, on July 5, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Altai Territory Alexander Lukyanov held a meeting with the founder of the Cherkizovo group, Igor Babaev.

The management of the enterprise assured that it was negotiating with Siberian poultry farms to rent space for slaughtering and processing Altai Broiler chickens. The publication "Continent-Siberia" reports that an agreement has been reached with the Oktyabrskaya poultry farm (Novosibirsk region).

However, an amic.ru correspondent at the Oktyabrskaya Poultry Farm was told that they were "not aware of the situation", they promised to clarify and call back. At the time of publication, no information was received from the company. Amic.ru also failed to get a comment from Altaisky Broiler and Cherkizovo: the company did not answer phone calls.

Therefore, it is likely that in the coming months, residents of the Altai Territory will not have access to "native" chicken meat.
